We know a lot of what we know about the moon, stars, planets and galaxies because of Astronomers. Your job will be to research the fundamental makeup of the universe, creating and updating maps and reference materials. On a great day at work, you might discover a new planet in a distant galaxy, or locate a new and important crater on Jupiter. You’ll find out what elements are in Saturn’s rings, and whether anything exists on the other side of a black hole. Astronomers work for universities, NASA, the government, or on their own researching, writing or lecturing curious stargazers around the world.
education requirements
Bachelor’s in Physics or Astronomy, plus Ph.D
