Sportscasters know sports, inside and out. With a talent for remembering sports statistics, a working knowledge of almost any sport on the planet, and an ability to weave it all together without ever saying “Umm,” a Sportscaster’s challenge is to make sports exciting and interesting for everyone. You’ll have locker room access. You’ll talk to players, coaches, owners and analysts. Many sportscasters conduct interviews and do research, using newspapers, blogs and even Twitter. Millions of sports fans will look to you for the story behind the glory. You’ll need to stay up to date because when they tune in, they expect you to be more dialed in than anyone.


education requirements

Bachelor’s in Journalism or Communications, with a concentration in Broadcasting
