Welcome to the world of the ultimate animal lover. Veterinarians are the experts who care for sick animals and perform surgery on injured ones. As a Vet, you could spend your days working with zoo animals, livestock, or even thoroughbred racehorses. Some Vets keep it local by starting their own practice and working with a staff of Vet Techs to perform routine check-ups or prescribe medication for household pets. Others work in research labs developing new medications to improve any animal’s quality of life. Vets can also serve as consultants for pet food companies, the film industry, or the U.S. government.
