Video Game Designers control the way a video game starts, plays and ends. You’ll need knowledge about every aspect of building a game, from scripting and animation to programming, graphics interface and online interactivity. If it’s in the game, it has to be in your head. Video Game Designers should also be experts on both the history of video games and the most popular video games, so being a solid player is also in your job description. You’ll need to balance creativity and a disciplined attention to detail in order to create games that capture a player’s imagination for hours at a time.
